Walk to End Hunger
Thursday, November 27

The Twin Cities Hunger Initiative, made up of hunger relief partner agencies, has developed the Walk to End Hunger as a part of their definitive plan to end hunger in the nine-county metro area by 2013.

Use the Walk to End Hunger to create a new Thanksgiving tradition by coming to Mall of America® and participating in the Walk.

Those without enough to eat, or without the resources to do something about it, have been our neighbors for a long time. Those who are hungry are not readily identified. They are grandparents, they are fellow students, and they are families facing foreclosure or a job lay-off. Organizations that provide emergency food witness the escalating need and critical issues around hunger every day.

The demand upon emergency food programs has been increasing dramatically over the past several years. There were nearly 1,000,000 visits to Twin Cities metro area food shelves in 2007 and over 1,000,000 meals served to those in need. This year food shelf usage in the metro area has risen 14% (to date) over the same period last year.

Hunger is intolerable, solvable, and must be addressed. Become part of the solution! Share your time and resources with others less fortunate by participating in the Walk to End Hunger which includes a Phone-A-Thon and Food Drive the week before Thanksgiving and the walk on Thanksgiving Day morning.
